From Fundació MONA, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the Biohub Fair organizers for creating this valuable meeting space, as well as to the Faculty of Biosciences of the UAB for their warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share our work with students in biology-related fields.

On Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, Fundació MONA had the pleasure of actively participating in the Biohub Employment and Employability Fair, an event held at the Faculty of Biosciences of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). Our colleagues Pablo and Elsa represented our center, bringing our passion and knowledge about the world of primates to students and future professionals.

The main goal of our presence was to share the work we do at our primate rescue center. Throughout the day, we interacted with numerous students from the Faculty of Sciences, explaining the challenges and rewards of working in animal conservation and welfare.

Key topics addressed included:

  1. The conservation challenges primates face.
  2. The consequences of the illegal trade and its impact on individuals.
  3. Our rehabilitation work at the center.
  4. The crucial role of biosciences research in protecting these animals, both in the wild and in captivity.

We also took the opportunity to present our various training programs, designed for those interested in deepening their knowledge and skills in primatology and conservation:

  1. Two-day monographic courses.
  2. More intensive programs such as MONATYC.
  3. And as an exciting new addition, we announced our Diploma in Primatology, which we will begin offering in February 2026 in collaboration with the University of Girona.

The response was very enthusiastic, with many students approaching our booth to ask questions, show interest, and learn more about our project and the professional and educational opportunities we offer.

From Fundació MONA, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the Biohub Fair organizers for creating this valuable meeting space, as well as to the Faculty of Biosciences of the UAB for their warm welcome and for giving us the opportunity to share our work with students in biology-related fields. It was an enriching experience that we hope will inspire many to join the cause of primate protection.
