New Diploma of Specialization in Primatology (Postgraduate): in-person course in conservation, welfare, research, and practical training.
This academic program builds on more than a decade of experience in university education, maintaining a commitment to excellence and continuously evolving to better meet the needs of the sector.
The diploma combines sessions both at the University of Girona and at the MONA Sanctuary. This structure allows for the integration of theory and practice in an applied context, providing direct access to the observation of primate behaviour and to the daily technical and scientific work in conservation and animal welfare, enriching the learning experience with an applied perspective of primatology.
MONA Foundation and the University of Girona Foundation present a new stage in academic training in primatology: the Diploma of Specialization in Primatology: Conservation, Welfare, Research and Practical Training. This academic proposal continues more than a decade of joint experience in university education, maintaining a commitment to excellence and updating itself to better meet the needs of the sector.
In-person training with practical experience in real environments
After a period of pause, in-person training returns to MONA’s Rescue Centre, bringing back what participants in our programs value most: immersion in a real professional environment, where it is possible to learn alongside the team that cares for, studies, and protects primates during the rehabilitation process.
The diploma combines sessions both at the University of Girona and at the MONA Sanctuary. This structure enables the integration of theory and practice in an applied context, providing direct access to observing primate behaviour and to the daily technical and scientific work in conservation and animal welfare, thereby enriching the educational experience with an applied perspective on primatology.
The diploma begins a new academic direction, led by Dr. Dietmar Crailsheim and Dr. David Riba, both professionals with extensive experience in applied primatology, animal welfare, and fieldwork with primates. They are joined by a multidisciplinary teaching team made up of national and international specialists in primate conservation, ethology, animal behaviour research, and rehabilitation in specialised centres. A collective vision that strengthens learning and reflects the complexity and richness of this professional field.
