ABOUT CALINE

Her past

After a few years living isolated from other chimpanzees and only in the company of her owners who used her to take photos, she was deposited at the La Flèche zoo. There she lived with Hugo and little Mayumba, with whom she shared almost 20 years until Hugo was transferred to MONA due to his mental health problems, to be reunited again a year later.

Despite spending almost 20 years in the company of her fellows, she does not fully understand the codes of behavior of chimpanzees, because she was very humanized during her first years of life. Her former caretakers tell us that for this reason, she is a chimpanzee that requires a lot of attention from humans.

Her present

She has adapted very well to her new surroundings after being reunited with Hugo. She has also met a new chimpanzee, Suzie, who is her new life partner.

She has always been the bravest when it comes to exploring new spaces.

Her social life

She is curious and affable, but she can also be temperamental when a situation bothers her. Hugo is always on her toes, the teenager Mayumba sometimes likes to tease her, and her relationship with Suzie is improving day by day.
